Happy Birthday to Me

Hi everybody! Well, I'm in Regina, and it feels good to be home.

I'm still crazy though: I woke up at 5:30 a.m., on my holiday and on my birthday, so that I could go for a run. In my defense, it was going to be my only chance to see my friend and running partner Steve before I headed down to Regina and then back to the bush, but I'm still crazy.

I told this to my friend and former co-worker Tyler who said, "No, you're just Matt". I'm not sure how to take that.

Anyway, to the silly people in this neighbourhood, I will be in town until Thursday (well, Friday actually, but since I plan to be on the road by 5:30 a.m., it hardly counts).

Hope to see some of you!

(Meg and Karl I'm looking in your direction, although nobody was answering the number you gave me).

Is anybody home!?

Yes, it has been a little while since I last updated this thing.

I've been a little busy.

For the last six weeks I've been the project geologist for a bush camp with twelvish people looking to me for direction. It's been a learning experience. And tiring. Oh, and I try to get some actual work done, too, once in a while. I've been mapping a 26 line-km grid with a lot of surface exposure, when I'm not flagging trail, building bridges, going to La Ronge to pick up supplies, and guiding assorted auditors, consultants and visitors around.

sigh

Yesterday I got out of the bush for a well-earned break. I'm spending the weekend in Saskatoon (was out at Wakaw Lake for part of today, yay for beaches!), then off to Regina for a few days before returning to the north.

How have you been? I hope everything is going well, and I will hopefully try to be in touch with as many of you as I can in the near future*
