Hey Eugene - Pink Martini

This is a cool song I heard on the community radio station in Regina yesterday. I heard it once before listening to Freestyle on CBC. I like it. Very jazzy.

Adventures in Regina

Yesterday morning my supervisor drove me out to the town of Brabant where we had left the rental truck I was taking back to Toon Town. I continued onto La Ronge, dropped off a consignment of rock pails at our expediter, and then drove to Saskatoon.

I spent less than two hours in Saskatoon: stopped by my apartment, picked up a bag I had packed for this weekend, and the garage door opener for my friend's garage, stopped by the office, then took the rental truck back to Driving Force. They dropped me off to pick up my car, and then I continued onto Regina. I don't mind the highway driving, honestly the hardest parts of these trips is getting in and out of the bloody cities.

My parents weren't expecting me until the next day, so my mom was pleasantly surprised to see me when she got home around supper time. My dad was filling in for a friend, administering an exam at an evening class. My mom and I decided to surprise him, so when he phoned for a ride home, I went to pick him up.

He was waiting outside of the university, and I pulled up right in front of him. He sort of continued looking around. I pointed at him, and then he turned his head to see if I was pointing at someone behind him. Finally, I opened the door, and he said "you're not picking me up". It was funny. I had to say, "Dad?", and then he figured it out and got in. In his defense, it was dark, and I guess there was something going on at the university such that many vehicles had been coming through there to pick people up. Also, he was expecting an SUV, not my little Focus, but it was still highly amusing. That's been the highlight of my trip thus far. I expect it will only get better!

Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons -or- Ways To Tell You've Been In the Bush For Awhile

First, the pictures:

Actually, I'm not sure how much more needs to be said. The snow wasn't quite moist enough, so I had to bring a bucket of snow inside to allow it to warm up and become a little sticky so that I could make these abominable creations. Have I mentioned I really loved Calvin & Hobbes as a kid?
